The general expectation was to see the film cross the total ticket sales of Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (1 Lakh), but as days passed by, the industry came down to expect an advance sale in the range of 75,000. But given the trends now, it is looking to be South of 65,000 by the end of Thursday. Putting it into perspective, Jug Jugg Jeeyo had sold 57,000 tickets whereas Samrat Prithviraj had sold 41,000 tickets. On Wednesday night, Samrat Prithviraj had sold around 14,000 tickets.
The drawback for Shamshera is the pricing as even if it sells more tickets than Jug Jugg Jeeyo at national chains, the overall collections might be lower as Jug Jugg Jeeyo had around 40% higher prices in these properties. The advance for Shamshera is below the expectations, but being a mass film, everyone is expecting a strong walk in on the day if the reports are even decent.
The movie will be headed to take a start around Rs. 12.5 to 14.5 crore on the opening day as per the advance booking trends, flirting with Kartik Aaryan's horror comedy for emerging biggest Bollywood opener of the year. If it surpasses it or not will depend on the audience's word of mouth, as positive talk can take opening day business to Rs. 15 to 16 crores and negative talk will stop it at Rs. 12 crores. Surprisingly, the bookings are not upto the mark in mass belts, and this segment of audience is expected to come up on the counter on release day.
One of the most popular, versatile and beloved actors of the Hindi film industry, Ranbir Kapoor is all set to make his big Bollywood comeback to the silver screens with Shamshera . The actor, who was last seen in and as Sanju four years ago, will be sharing the screen with the OG Sanju Baba aka Sanjay Dutt this time, along with the beautiful Vaani Kapoor . Apart from being his return to theatres, another reason why Shamshera is one of the most awaited films of the year is that it marks Ranbir’s first double role project.
As we all eagerly wait for the period action film to arrive in theatres this Friday, a first review of Shamshera is now out on social media. Umair Sandhu, a member of the Overseas Censor Board, has tweeted: “First Review #Shamshera from Overseas Censor Board! Old wine in a New Bottle! #RanbirKapoor Stole the Show all way. #SanjayDutt as usual Boring Villain ! He is still in #KGF & #PrithviRaj Mode ! #VaaniKapoor is Surprise Package ! She is looking Stunning ! Average !” He went on to give the film two and a half stars.
